FOOTBALL SEASON IS ALMOST HERE!
It's just over a week away, and Tiger fans are getting excited... the anticipation is growing daily for the return of LSU football! The trip to Atlanta offers a lot of options, but several folks have mentioned that they'd like to have a gathering for our local chapter. We are targeting Saturday afternoon at a downtown establishment to be determined, but it would help to get an approximate head count. We've also been requested to share contact info for those who want.
If you'll be in Atlanta, please reply to a couple of questions:
1) Are you interested in gathering on Saturday afternoon to eat? We may need to make reservations, so we'll need a ballpark head count.
2) If you want to share your mobile phone with others going, please reply with that. We will share the numbers only with those who want to publish their numbers, so if you share your number you'll get an email with a list of other members.
If you will not be in Atlanta but want to watch the game with our local group, Christine Law will host our game watch party at our usual spot, Spirits Pub & Grub in Cary.
When: Saturday, Sept. 4, 8:00 PM
Where: Spirits Pub & Grub - 701 E Chatham St., Suite 101 Cary, NC 27511, Phone 462-7001

Hello Tigers!
It's now less than 40 days before LSU football kicks off the 2010 season! This also marks the start of a new year for the Triangle, NC LSU Alumni chapter, so we will be holding our fall Kickoff meeting in a few weeks. This year, we'll be doing a "cajun pot luck" dinner - not a competition, just good down home Louisiana cooking and socializing. The event will be hosted by our VP, David Pederson, at his neighborhood clubhouse. We might need a few extra chairs and tables, if you have easily transportable folding chairs/tables. If you are interested in bringing a dish or chairs/tables, please RSVP. As usual, we'll also have a raffle and there will be some video highlights to entertain you, including LSU football 2010 "hype" videos and the Saints Super Bowl win.
This is our initial event for the 2010-2011 fiscal year - dues can be paid, and they are $25/individual or $30/household. One new thing we are going to be implementing for our members is that each month during football season (and possibly beyond), we will have a "members only" raffle where all dues paid members are eligible to win a special prize.
What: Kickoff meeting, cajun pot luck, raffle, officer election
When: Saturday, August 21, 6:00 PM
Where: Alyson Pond Clubhouse, 2817 Coxindale Dr, Raleigh

There is a lot of excitement here for the Kickoff Classic game with UNC, and we have a large number of fans from this area heading down to Hotlanta. Here are a few updates on that event:
Hi folks,
I know a lot of you have been wondering about this big game against that little ol' powder blue school right down the road from us, and I finally have some great news. The LSU Alumni Association is putting together a block order of tickets, without a big travel or hotel "package" that you have to buy along with it. In these times I know a lot of us are watching expenses, so this gives us the opportunity to make a more reasonably priced trip possible.
BUT... and of course there's a "but", we have a short time frame on this - the order has to be placed with the ticket office by the end of next week. That means I need to get orders and payments from people very quickly. We will also be coordinating with the LSU Atlanta chapter for some festivities on Friday night, and looking for a good group rate with a hotel.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU, AND PRONTO:
1) Tickets are $86 each. I'm told they are "probably" in the lower level but there is no guarantee. If you want tickets, we need to get a quantity, and payment (check made to "LSU Alumni Association") by no later than Thursday, June 3. That's a hard deadline, no exceptions! You can bring payment to the crawfish boil if you like. Send your check to:
Paul Heroy
901 Bluestone Rd
Durham, NC, 27713
2) Right now, we mainly need to get the ticket order in quickly, but if you are also interested in a hotel room block, please let me know so I can get a rough count of how many rooms we might be able to tell a hotel that we would reserve, which will help us get a good rate.
GEAUX TIGERS!

Hi everyone,
Wow, what a weekend with the snow - I have it on good authority that we are just getting a residual effect of hell freezing over, with the Saints in the Super Bowl! Just to confirm, we aren't officially scheduling a get together for that - too many conflicts.
We are having a Mardi Gras party at Battistella's New Orleans Kitchen, however. This should be a lot of fun - their food is truly outstanding, and we'll play some music and throw a few beads around... kids are welcome so we're keeping it PG! Please RSVP to lsutriangle@gmail.com to let us know how many to expect, and see if we can fill up the big room there instead of the smaller one. Note that part of the price charged is going to our scholarship fund.
When: Saturday, Feb. 13, 6:00 PM
Where: Battistella's New Orleans Kitchen - 3920 Arrow Drive, Raleigh, NC, 27612 (Between Crabtree Valley Mall & I-440)
Directions & map: http://www.
Pricing: $22 adult members, $25 non-members, $10 kids (will be collected on site)
Food: Brian Battistella will have a buffet selection of red beans & rice, jambalaya, and crawfish etouffe. Drinks (tea, soda, beer, wine) are available but extra.
Geaux Tigers and SAINTS!

LSU takes on Ole Miss this week, and I'm expecting a little more fired up team than last week. Not too surprisingly, the team was out of sync last week after a hyped up, physical game, missing 4 starters on offense and a lower level opponent. Closing out the season well will be a challenge - it seems no matter what the rankings or expectations, the Rebels always play tough against LSU, and you can say the same about Arkansas. This week's game is the CBS SEC afternoon game so a lot of eyes are on the Tigers in Oxford.
Please RSVP to lsutriangle@gmail.com if you'll be coming. If you haven't been in the last couple of weeks, Spirits has been doing some nice specials for LSU fans, including special menu items, Abita beer and appetizer specials.

This week, LSU looks to get back on the winning track - and scuttlebutt has it that with Jordan Jefferson still recovering from an ankle injury, Jarrett Lee will get the start at QB. With Charles Scott out for the season, that could make for a little more interesting matchup. Will Russell Shepard get a few more looks at QB, too? I'll also confess to being curious whether the team has any let down after an intensely physical and emotional game last week, and a little glad that this week is not an SEC game. Of course, La Tech will definitely be up for this game and after coming very close to knocking off Boise State, looking for a way to pull of a big upset. Add in that they are coached by Derek Dooley, who spent some time as an assistant at LSU, and this is a more interesting matchup than the typical in-state school game.
Please RSVP to lsutriangle@gmail.com if you'll be attending our view-in.

Hello Tigers,
Most of the time these days you'll hear teams and coaches talk about "taking them one at a time", "all the games matter"... and while it's so true, this week clearly proves the exception to that rule. We all know what's at stake - control of the SEC West and a potential spot in the SEC Championship Game, and maybe more; the chance to gain redemption after last year and show that LSU isn't going anywhere except staying at the elite level of college football; another of those "teams in red" that Coach Miles loves to beat, whether it's Ohio State, Oklahoma, or Alabama. I don't think a single prediction is going LSU's way on this one, unless Clucko the Chicken is in our corner. We've got them right where we want them - nothing to lose for LSU, and all the pressure is on Bama. The offense has started to click in the last couple of games, but hasn't been tested by the likes of "Mount Cody". It's time for the Tigers to take the next step up the ladder!
Come join us at Spirits this Saturday - we are going to ROCK THE JOINT WITH TIGER SPIRIT! Please RSVP to lsutriangle@gmail.com if you'll be attending.

What a difference a week makes! The Tigers got back on track in a big way last weekend against Auburn. This week, the offense gets more practice time against Tulane in preparation for you know who. Yep, it's another Saturday night in Tiger Stadium - this time on Halloween, to boot. The ghost of Billy Cannon's legendary punt return is sure to be lurking, but hopefully the Tigers won't getting any scares from meanie Greenies and need anything like that.
The game is on Pay per view this week, so join us back at Spirit's - as usual please let us know if you'll be coming.
